Xero Workshop
Hosted by Far West Young Farmers & Southern Cross Business Advisors
Earlier this year, Far West Young Farmers partnered with Southern Cross Business Advisors (SCBA) to deliver a practical Xero Workshop in Broken Hill, providing local producers, business owners and young professionals with the opportunity to strengthen their financial management skills and gain confidence using cloud-based accounting software.
The workshop attracted 20 participants who travelled from across the Far West region to attend, highlighting the strong interest in improving business management and financial literacy within our rural communities. Whether attendees were completely new to Xero or regular users looking to expand their knowledge, the session offered valuable insights for everyone.
A big thank you goes to the SCBA team, including Mathew Belbin, Ferdinand Circosta and Sharni Robinson, who generously shared their expertise throughout the day. Their practical approach made complex financial concepts easy to understand, and they took the time to answer the many questions raised by participants. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged discussion and ensured attendees could apply the information to their own businesses and circumstances.
Participants were guided through a range of Xero features, including bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, reporting functions and ways to better monitor business performance. As agricultural businesses continue to face increasing costs and changing market conditions, having access to accurate financial information is more important than ever. The workshop provided useful tools and strategies to help attendees make informed financial decisions and improve the efficiency of their business operations.
Of course, no community event is complete without great food. Catering for the day was supplied by Kel from Moorabie Kitchen and was absolutely delicious. The quality catering helped create a welcoming atmosphere and provided plenty of opportunity for attendees to network, share experiences and connect with others from across the far west.
The positive feedback received following the workshop reinforced the value of bringing practical, skills-based training opportunities to our community. Financial management is a critical component of every successful business, and it was fantastic to see so many people investing their time in developing these skills.
